American Legion Post 254, Pancake Day, 7 a.m. to noon Nov. 9, at Searfoss School. Cost is $6 for adults, $3 for children ages 6-12 and free for those age 5 and younger. Cost includes all the pancakes you can eat, link sausage and beverage. There will be an auction at 9:30 a.m., along with a bake sale and a 50-50 drawing. All proceeds will support community programs.

Johnstown Area Seniors, meeting and program, 10 a.m. Nov. 11, at Church of the Ascension, 555 S. Main St., Johnstown. This is a non-denominational group for those 55 years of age or older. A social gathering with coffee starts the day, with a meeting at 10:30 a.m., a program at 11 a.m. and lunch at 11:30 a.m. There is a $5 one-time admission fee and $5 fee for each meeting that includes lunch.

AARP Foundation Senior Community Service Employment Program assists unemployed Franklin, Delaware and Licking county workers age 55 and over with securing employment. The program offers paid work experience, specialized training, upgrading of skills and job-search assistance. Age, income and residency requirements apply. Flu Vaccinations, 9 to 10 a.m. Nov. 1, at the Licking County Health Department, 675 Price Road, Newark, and 9 to 10 a.m. Nov. 4, at the Licking County Aging Program, 1058 E. Main St., Newark. Adults need to bring insurance cards to the clinic. The department has a limited amount of vaccine for high-risk adults who are unable to pay. Friends and Family Infant and Child CPR Class, geared toward expectant parents and grandparents, 6 to 7 p.m. Nov. 1, in the first-floor conference rooms at Licking Memorial Hospital, 1320 W. Main St., Newark. Although this class does not provide official certification, it focuses on basic life support and treatment for children who are choking. Newborn Basics Class, 6 to 8 p.m. Nov. 5, in the first-floor conference rooms at Licking Memorial Hospital, 1320 W. Main St., Newark. The class prepares parents-to-be how to care for their babies through the months after birth. Topics covered include newborn care, infant growth and development, ways to interact with infants and infant and child safety. A childbirth educator will discuss topics such as ways to cope with labor, postpartum care and newborn care. Advance registration is required, and class size is limited to 10 couples.
