Summer is here and it's a great time to go see concerts and enjoy the warmer weather. For awhile now CD101 has been offering $5 low-dough shows. I've seen a few over the years and these are a great way to see emerging artists.
Low-dough shows: • Metrix at the Newport on Aug. 17 • SummerFest at the LC Pavilion on Aug. 22 will feature various artists.
Community concerts Don't forget that most communities are offering Summer Concerts. I mentioned these in a previous blog-and if you missed it then just check out your city Web site to see if it offers them.
Dateline: Cleveland If you're willing to go for a little road trip, then you might want to consider heading to Cleveland for a concert. Sure, the gas money will push you over the $10 budget, but it's nice to get away sometimes, right? Some FREE or $10 shows in Cleveland: • No Doubt at Blossom tonight with $10 lawn seats. (Yep, those outrageous Ticketmaster fees are going to add to the price, but it's still pretty cheap.) • The Airborne Toxic Event at House of Blues on Aug. 4 at 8 p.m. for $9.23. (I really like this band and I'd be going if I didn't work late on Tuesdays! House of Blues is a smaller venue and you get a good view of the bands there.) • Each Wednesday they're having FREE concerts at the Rock Hall of Fame + Museum on the Plaza. The Black Swans will be there July 22. Visit www.rockhall.com for artists and more information.
