Check out this huge buckeye in the entrance/retail shoppe before or after your tour. Although it'd probably be enough chocolate for one person for a year, it's just a little over the budget at $3,500! Candy tour Anthony-Thomas Candies offers a FREE tour on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30 to 2:30 p.m. at its production facility in the Hilliard/West Side area. Perhaps you've seen the brown brick building when driving on the western portion of I-270. The tour, which lets you view the production area through glass in an elevated area, lasts about a half of an hour. You'll learn about the history of the company, cacoa plants and the difference between white and milk/dark chocolates. During my visit, they were making buckeyes. Our tour guide informed the group about how many buckeyes run through the machine and get wrapped per hour. Other employees work on other confections throughout the facility. The retail shoppe offers all sorts of chocolate gifts from "Love" chocolates, to meltaways and other chocolates sold by the pound, including the famous buckeyes. You can even meet one of the family members there. Be sure to get your FREE sample at the end of your tour. They also do tours weekdays for groups of 10 or more by appointment.
