movies on screen and TV
With the much colder weather setting in this weekend, it might be a good time to watch movies. Here's my picks for the weekend:
• Star Wars 3D movie opens this weekend in theaters. Prices for tickets for 3D movies usually top $10, but if you go to a matinee before noon, most tickets cost $9. AMC Theaters will be giving away collectibles during opening weekend. I also want to see "Girl With the Dragon Tatoo" and silent film throwback "The Artist." TIP: Get a gift card from Giant Eagle or Kroger to get fuel points if they offer them at your store.
• "Breakfast at Tiffany's," a perennial classic, will be shown at The Drexel Theatre in Bexley on Sunday at 4 p.m. and Tuesday at 7 p.m. for Valentine's Day. Free chocolates for all ladies and drink specials. Also, enter to win a prize drawings during the special screenings.
• I want to watch The Mysterious Island, an update of the Jules Verne novel, on SyFy Saturday night at 9 p.m.
• Downton Abbey continues on PBS Sunday evening at 8 p.m. If you've heard about this and want to catch up on previous episodes, you can watch them on the PBS website.
Of course, it's the bicentennial celebration in downtown Columbus this weekend, but tickets are way above the $10 price point.
