Tribe adds Huff, Bauer; options Chisenhall
The Cleveland Indians called up Trevor Bauer from the Clippers to start the second game of today's make-up doubleheader against the New York Yankees in Progressive Field. Cleveland also purchased the contract of left-handed reliever David Huff from Columbus.
To make roster room for Huff, the Indians optioned third baseman Lonnie Chisenhall to the Clippers. Bauer, meanwhile, becomes the 26th player for the Indians in the doubleheader.
Chisenhall was the opening day third baseman for Cleveland this season. But he hit .213 (20-94) with 4 2B, 3HR & 11RBI in 26 gamesprior to today’s transaction.
Bauer didn't allow a hit over 6 2/3 innings of his last start for the Clippers against Charlotte. He did hit four batters and walk four batters. Huff struck out seven in four innings of relief in his last outing with Columbus- also against Charlotte.
