Tribe signs Rohlinger, Ramirez

The Cleveland Indians re-signed infielder Ryan Rohlinger today to a minor-league contract with an invitation to theMajor Leaguecamp for spring training.

Rohlinger, 30, spent the 2013 season with the Clippers and was the team's steadiest performer. In 92 games, he batted .266 with 17 doubles, five home runs, 25 RBI and a .353 on-base percentage. He split time between third base (57 games), shortstop (26) and second base (nine).

This will mark Rohlinger's third season in the Cleveland organization. He was a sixth-round pick by the San Francisco Giants in the 2006 first-year player draft and has appeared in 46 games with the Giants between '08 and '11.

Cleveland also signed pitcher J.C. Ramirez, 25,to a minor-league contract with an invitation to the Major League camp. He spent the '13 seasonin the Philadelphia Phillies organization. He made his big league debut with the Philliesduring theseason and appeared in 18 games for them. He was 0-1 with a 7.50 earned run average.

Ramirez also pitched for triple-A Lehigh Valley and double-A Reading during the season.
