Pannell to play college football; Day, Edwards add offers

DeSales senior football player Marq Pannell will play for the College of Mount St. Joseph, a Division III school located in Cincinnati.

Pannell, who is a member of National Society of High School Scholars and has received $26,000 in academic scholarship and awards, likely will play at defensive back.

For the Stallions last season, Pannell returned an interception for 30 yards during a 31-14 victory over Cleveland Benedictine on Oct. 28 that helped the Stallions extend their state-best string of postseason appearances to 18. He also had two interceptions during a 52-7 win over Cincinnati LaSalle on Oct. 21.

Mount St. Joseph plays in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference, whose membership also includes Bluffton and Defiance.

Other central Ohio players on Mount St. Joseph's roster include Nathan Blackwell from West Jefferson, Shane Fullerton from Thomas Worthington and Joseph Frakes from Hamilton Township,

*Hilliard Darby junior defensive back Caleb Day recently added an offer from Purdue, according to coach Jon Santagata.

Day, a 6-1, 186-pounder, also has offers from Arkansas, Illinois, Louisville, Marshall and Ohio State.

*Eastmoor tight end Devon Edwards is up to four Division I offers after recently receiving one from Boston College, according to ScoutingOhio.com.

Edwards, a 6-6, 235-pounder, also has offers from Nebraska, North Carolina State and West Virginia.
