Raiders' Jenkins to play women's hoops for Bobcats
The girls basketball recruiting news has continued to flow in recent weeks, and the latest commitment is Reynoldsburg senior Yamonie Jenkins.
With Jenkins' recent verbal commitment to Ohio University, the Raiders now have three players from the 2013 class who will play collegiately. The other two are Destini Cooper, who also will go to OU, and Shiloh Murphy, who will sign with Morehead State.
According to coach Jack Purtell, they'll all sign during the early signing period which takes place in November.
Jenkins only averaged 5.7 points last season but she's shown excellent point-guard skills, averaging 5.6 assists, 4.0 steals and 2.2 rebounds while making first-team all-OCC-Ohio Division and honorable mention all-district.
The top recruit on the Raiders' team is Alyssa Rice, a 6-3 post player, but she's only a junior.
Needless to say, there's an awful lot to be excited about for Raiders fans this coming season after their team made its second state semifinal appearance last winter.
Other area girls from throughout central Ohio who have verballed from the 2012-13 class are Northland's Alexis Peterson (Syracuse), Africentric's Marley Hill (Cincinnati), Gahanna's Quiera Lampkins (Ohio U.), Zenobia Bess (Illinois State) and Maddison Blackwell (Xavier) and Olentangy Orange's Taylor Agler (Indiana).
