Coffman's Hausfeld, Vargo to play college volleyball
Two Dublin Coffman High School seniors signed letters of intent Nov. 14 to play volleyball at the collegiate level.
Cassie Hausfeld, a middle hitter/outside hitter, signed with Seton Hill University and Jenn Vargo, a setter, signed with Duquesne University.
This fall, Hausfeld was named OCC-Central Division Player of the Year and made first-team all-district and Vargo was second-team all-district and first-team all-league, as Coffman went 22-4, captured its sixth consecutive league title and reached a Division I regional semifinal before losing 25-20, 25-20, 25-22 to Massillon Jackson on Nov. 1.
Dublin Coffman High School senior Jason Hall signed a letter of intent Nov. 14 to play baseball at Xavier University.
Last season, Hall pitched 38 1/3 innings and had a 2-4 record with a 1.83 ERA, 38 strikeouts and 20 walks, as the Shamrocks finished 11-15 overall and went 7-7 in the OCC-Central Division to tie Hilliard Davidson for fifth behind champion Thomas Worthington (11-3).
"This worked out great for Jason and his family because he's going to pitch on the same team his brother (2011 Coffman graduate Adam) pitches for," Shamrocks baseball coach Tim Saunders said. "Jason had a great summer of baseball and he's looking forward to finishing up his high school career and moving on to Xavier."
