Central Ohio recruiting news and notes for Wednesday
Got a chance to exchange with Ready's Brady Taylor last night, and he says that he'll be announcing his college decision sometime in the early evening of July 29 at his house among friends.
Taylor is a 6-5, 264-pound offensive lineman who lists Kentucky and Virginia Tech near the top of his list. He's a member of what appears to be a strong senior class at Ready after the Silver Knights started only four seniors a year ago.
*Over the next few days, I'll post some comments from Hilliard Davidson senior Phillipie Motley about his decision to verbally commit to Pittsburgh. For those wondering, by the way, his name is pronounced like you would say "Felipe," according to Davidson coach Brian White. Motley told me on a quick text last night that he was recruited by Pitt as a DB.
*It's getting late into the summer, so we should be hearing soon about the futures of area basketball talent like Africentric's Alexa Hart, Reynoldsburg's Alyssa Rice and Gahanna's Javon Bess. According to ESPNHoopGurlz, the 6-3 Rice is ranked the 11th prospect in the nation and Hart is ranked 16th among the 2014 class. Those who followed the girls state tournament last year probably remember Kettering Fairmont's Makayla Waterman and Kathryn Westbeld, and they are ranked 30th and 31st, respectively.
Thus far, the first big name to drop among the 2014 boys recruits is Pickerington Central's Jae'Sean Tate, who verballed a while back to Ohio State.
