Every so often, the opportunity comes along to combine what The Beat does - music and entertainment - with other things of which we're a fan. In particular, and specific to this entry, hockey.
The 2007 NHL Entry Draft will be held at Nationwide Arena June 22 and 23. Now, we'll save you The Beat's speculation as to who the Jackets should select with the seventh pick in the draft and go straight to the big entertainment news - according to today's Columbus Dispatch, Yellowcard will perform on Friday on the plaza in front of the arena, leading up to the first pick. Pretty cool.
Our only beef with this is that Yellowcard is a soccer term. Nothing against soccer, but shouldn't the NHL Draft feature music from a band with a name like Wicked Wrister or Five Hole or Five for Fighting? Hmm.
