Ever gone to a concert primarily to see the opening act of a three-band bill?
Tonight The Beat is heading to Germain Amphitheater to see Mae, which is opening for OK Go, which is opening for The Fray. Mae keyboardist Ron Sweitzer tells us his band's set is a little longer than 30 minutes, and is about half new material from the band's forthcoming "Singularity," and half stuff from their first two records, The Everglow and Destination: Beautiful.
The Beat has written in our print edition many times of our appreciation for Mae. Easily our favorite young band, and scratching at the door of our all-time faves.
Nothing against The Fray, who we enjoy, and OK Go, who had that cute video, but we're really hoping they do something special that impresses us.
