The Brass Band of Columbus will celebrate its silver anniversary with a concert Sunday at the McCoy Community Center for the Arts in New Albany.

The program celebrates the ensemble's past 25 years but also the present and and future, thanks to the commission of a brand-new work by composer James Curnow, The Ellacombe Chronicles.

Director Tim Jameson told The Beat he is constantly moved by the musicians' "dedication to art, education and each other. Every week at rehearsal, and at every performance, I am both proud and humbled."

The band plans to pay tribute to founder and euphonium player Paul Droste (also known as the long-time director of The Ohio State University Marching Band) - in a way most fitting. You'll have to check out the concert and see for yourself.
