You already know Wicked is in town. And you read The Beat's print piece with Brynn O'Malley, who plays Nessarose, sister of Elphaba, one of the show's two main characters (the green one). Now, if you're not familiar withe the show, it's an imagined prequel to The Wizard of Oz - Elphaba becomes the Wicked Witch of the West, meaning Nessa is the Wicked Witch of the East (you know, house falls on her?).

Anyway, the print piece had some great stuff from O'Malley on her role and her character within Wicked. She also had some other good stuff, including her story of how she came to the theatre.

"I decided late in high school to go into theatre. I grew up outside of Ann Arbor (NOTE: Don't hold it against her) and I didn't even know you could major in theatre, I just through it was fun. Then I 'discovered' the BFA (Bachelor of Fine Arts) program at the University of Michigan (NOTE: see previous note) and it was only 10 minutes away. I wondered then 'Can you also minor in ponies and lollipops?'"

After graduation O'Malley headed for New York, and within a year was cast as Belle understudy in Beauty and the Beast.

"I've been very luck. I've worked almost every day since, and I'll have been there seven years this fall."

Her numerous other credits include Amber in Hairspray. Beauty and the Beast, Hairspray, Wicked. O'Malley could be a favorite of The Beat's daughter.
