One time, at Boot Camp
How cool would it be to answer “What did you do on your summer vacation?” with “I Shadowboxed.”
As in, Shadowbox Live’s Boot Camp for ages 15-21.
The three-week program will be held in two sessions – June 12-July 29 and July 24-Aug. 10. Auditions will be held for Session 2 Saturday, June 9, at Shadowbox Live in the Brewery District – although Stacie Boord tells The Beat there are a few slots still open in Session 1.
The Boot Camps cover the four main Shadowbox disciplines – rock vocals, contemporary acting and comedy, dance theatre and rock instrumentals. Boord said the program not only provides new skills but enhances existing ones.
"It's incredibly intense,": Boord said of the three-week program. "The purpose of the program is to work all four disciplines. Learning them all will strengthen your primary discipline."
She said the Boot Camp deals with other topics such as preparation, dealing with fear and actualization.
Additionally, she said the program is not limited to those with singing, dance or theater experience.
“It’s more about drive and potential,” she said.
The program ends with a performance at a Friday midday Lunchbox program, alongside Shadowbox cast members. Again we ask, How cool would that be?
