Taking his time, doing it right

We mentioned in our print piece about Festival Latino featured artist Obie Bermudez that his career arc has been admittedly, well, asymmetrical.

Part of this is a result of his marriage and the birth of a son - all good. Part has been a search for label distribution - a hassle.

And some has been his own fault. No... he admits he has trouble sending a record out there, thinking that there are things that could be fixed or improved.

"With a record, it's out there for life," he said. "That's why my albums take so long. I want to make sure I'm 100 percent OK with it."

He said he'd like to be more comfortable with the process.

"It's never going to be 100 percent perfect. There has to come a point where I let it go."
