One of these things is not like the others

The Beat has the chance to chat with saxophonist Boney James to preview his show tonight at the Jaxx and Rib Fest. Read the print piece here.

James is an interesting case. He came to popularity in the early 90s, apparently riding the wave started by smooth-jazz saxmen Kenny G and Dave Koz. Turns out James was never quite the same thing, owing more to 70s crossover R&B/jazz in the vein of Grover Washington Jr. or Joe Sample.
