Consumers, when shopping for ground beef always look for ground beef that is pink or reddish. When you see spots of grey or brown it means it has been exposed to the air and is getting old. If you open a package and it smells like ammonia, don't use it. It should have a faint beefy smell. Ground beef lasts in the refrigerator for 2 days and in the freezer if packaged properly for up to 4 months. With the E.Coli break out right now be sure to cook your hamburger until there are no traces of pink in the center or blood in the juices. If you are using a meat thermometer cook until it reaches 165 degrees. I personally buy all of my ground beef at Sam's Club. I find their quality and pricing unbeatable. For now happy shopping!
