Most purchases are made on impulse. Shoppers are busy and in a hurry so -- they walk in to a store and grab the first thing that they see. If the item has a sale sign it above even better -- the shopper assumes it is a good deal without much thought.

Closets are jam packed with impulse purchases -- that turned out to be duds. When shopping -- give the items you are considering to the sales clerk and ask them to put the items on hold. This will distance you from the items and give you a chance to assess if this is an item you truly need or want.

If shopping in a mall put the items on hold and move on to the next store. You may find a better deal on the same item or a better deal. If you don't give yourself time to think each purchase through -- you will overspend.

For now happy shopping!
