I know you're busy. Here's a little help planning your weekend.
Fourth of July is pretty much a bourbon holiday, right? Sip on this delicious Manhattan this weekend and be a good American.
Happy Independence Day, Columbus! Hope y'all already have plans for an action-packedweekend. If ya don't, let this little guide to this three-day break be your, uh, guide. As always, here are my top picks for what I'd do this weekend if I could be everywhere all the time.
Doo Dah Day Parade in the Short North
My favorite Fourth of July tradition. This is a madness I'm all too eager to experience.
El Manantial Latino food truck in North Campus
July 4th After-Party at Rumba Cafe
4th and 4th Fest at Seventh Son Co.
It's a tough call Saturday between this and the Mr. Fahrenheit & the Loverboys fest at 400 West Rich (and, like, a dozen other music options Saturday; for instance: Blueprint and Bret Michaels! Thankfully not together, though that might be its own kind of awesome). I'm giving the slight nod here to 4th and 4th because 1.) Seventh Son beer, and 2.) Dan Boeckner (of Wolf Parade, Divine Fits, Operators, general badassery).
Mr. Fahrenheit & the Loverboys 7-year anniversary festival at 400 West Rich
Bret Michaels at Scioto Downs Racino
Get Right with DJ Giovanny at Skully's Music-Diner
Heatwave! at Ace of Cups
"A Hard Day's Night" screening at the Wexner Center for the Arts
Blueprint, Count Bass D, Zero Star & Stone Craft at Brothers Drake Meadery & Bar
Oliver's Burgers, Steaks & Bourbon in downtown
The place looks amazing, and that bourbon list, oh my. My biggest pleasant surprise, however, are the range of meatless options that actually sound creative and enticing. Oliver's is going to be dangerous on my wallet and liver.
Market Flea at North Market
"Tammy" at theaters
David Willis + Girls with Slingshots + Katie Valeska + Lora Innes Signing-A-Palooza! at Laughing Ogre Comics
