: Columbus.

Background: I graduated from Columbus State Community College in 1999 and Ohio State University in 2002. I spent the last nine of 10 years out west cooking in Northern California and Nevada.

Most memorable kitchen experience: As a sous-chef in San Francisco, I met former Vice President Al Gore; Willie Brown, former mayor of San Francisco; then-mayor Gavin Newsome, also a restaurant owner; U.S. Senator and actor Al Franken; and renowned chef Hubert Keller all in one night. Our corporate and executive chef was out for the evening and I had to go introduce myself and explain our food pairings to everyone. A little nerve-racking but unforgettable.

Best thing about the Columbus dining scene: It’s growing. I don't think we're there yet, but diners are asking more and more about where our products sourced. I think it’s cool that people appreciate the extra effort we put into our products to promote what central Ohio has to offer.
