    Kent Mercker sits with his wife, Julie, and their daughters, 6-year-old Ava, 14-year-old Madison and 10-year-old Sophie, in their home in Dublin. Mercker, a pitcher for the Cincinnati Reds, is spending time at home this summer while injured. He is a 1986 graduate of Dublin High School and was the fifth pick of the 1986 Major League Baseball draft, chosen by the Atlanta Braves.
