Haring is the No. 1 pediatric dentist in central Ohio

Dr. Robert Haring is the No. 1 pediatric dentist in central Ohio, according to an exclusive survey conducted by 10TV, ThisWeek Community Newspapers and Columbus Parent Magazine.
In our survey, we asked dentists in Franklin and surrounding counties who they would visit if they needed dental care for themselves or their families.
As you enter Haring's waiting room, there is a tiny doorway on the other side of the room leading to a small room with miniature furniture. It's a pint-sized waiting room for very small patients.
The waiting room also has video games and a mechanical horse inside, 10TV's Andrea Cambern reported.
"My office has a setting that helps make it a little bit more comfortable for children so they feel a little bit more at ease," Haring said.
Once they are comfortable, Haring said children like Caroline Girard are able to accept whatever dental treatment they might need. He talks to his young patients before he talks to their parents and even before they sit down in kid-sized chairs, Cambern reported.
"This is a place for (children) and not their parents," Haring said.
Because he loves children, Haring said that he first wanted to teach in an elementary school but an uncle who was an orthodontist convinced him to give dental school a
try.
"I didn't even realize there was a pediatric dental specialty in dentistry until after I got into school," Haring said. "When I found that out, I thought, 'This would be my niche.' And it's worked out really well."
"Its fun coming here," Girard said.
