If Friday's football game is an indication, there's still plenty of bad blood running between Harvest Prep and Licking Heights High School.

The Hornets prevailed 38-13 in an MSL-Cardinal Division game marred by fistfights and penalties, which included eight called against the visiting Warriors for unsportsmanlike conduct, indicating that a feud stemming from a battle in the first baseball meeting between the two last spring continues.

"I guess there's still hard feelings," said Licking Heights junior Cody Bailey, who was at the center of last spring's fight after he was decked standing at home plate by Casey Hood. "I told the guys
before the (football) season that this would be one of our hardest games."

Last Friday's game lasted three hours even though the outcome never was in question during the second half. The Hornets led 31-0 after Shawn Smith threw a 40-yard touchdown pass to Storm
Timson with 6 minutes, 47 seconds remaining in the third quarter. It was 38-7 after Roy Bias scored his second touchdown on a 6-yard run with 10:57 left to play in the game.

"I'm just proud tonight that when we were faced with adversity we didn't backslide," coach Darren Waters said.

The Hornets improved to 5-1 overall and 3-0 in the MSL-Cardinal, keeping pace with West Jefferson. They meet in the regular-season finale Oct. 24 at Licking Heights. Harvest Prep slipped to 2-4 and
2-1.

Smith threw a pair of touchdown passes, one of which went to Dereke Acosta, and he also rushed for one touchdown. Phil Grizer helped anchor the defensive effort with two sacks.
