Senior running back Collin Leidinger was a game-time decision after suffering a knee injury in Ready High School football practice Tuesday.

He made it clear immediately that the Silver Knights' coaching staff had made the right decision about allowing him to play when he broke for a 13-yard run the first time he touched the ball.

It was that kind of night for Ready, which needed a win - and got one in convincing fashion - to make the Division V, Region 19 playoffs.

The Silver Knights improved to 6-2 with one of the most lopsided decisions in the history of their rivalry against Hartley, a 52-6 decision on the road Friday that gave them the CCL-Gold Division title.

Hartley slipped to 7-3 but still clinched a playoff berth in Division IV, Region 15.

Leidinger led the way with 218 yards and four touchdowns on 29 attempts, although everyone involved in the offense was quick to credit an offensive line which has continued to improve the last three weeks while
getting used to not having senior Dean Cullison, who is out for the year with a knee injury.

"We're not as good as 52-6, and they're not as bad as 52-6," coach Larry Wolf said. "It just happens. It was one of the nights where it was Ready's night. I thought it was big when they missed the extra point (after
their only touchdown). I'm so proud of the players because they were so focused."

After Leidinger scored on a 2-yard run with 44.3 seconds to go in the opening quarter and Mike Morgan made the extra point, Hartley's Geoffrey Whiteside returned the ensuing kickoff 95 yards for a touchdown to
make it 7-6. The Hawks then missed the extra point.

Leidinger added a 3-yard scoring run with 6:08 to go in the first half, and Morgan kicked a 26-yard field goal to give the Silver Knights a 17-7 halftime lead.

Cody Culbertson returned the opening kickoff of the second half 85 yards for a touchdown to make it 24-7 Ready, and that began a quarter in which the Silver Knights scored five times.

"I hurt my knee in one of the sessions on Tuesday and so I figured I just needed to rest it," Leidinger said. "I felt real good this morning. (We got excited because) it's Hartley and it gives fire to everybody."

"You've got to give them a lot of credit," coach Brad Burchfield said. "It was a complete game on their part. What a nightmare."
