LOGAN -- The season ended for the Dublin Jerome High School football team with a 23-7 loss to host Logan on Friday in a Division II regional quarterfinal.

Third-seeed Logan took a 13-0 lead in the first quarter and held on as it improved to 11-0. It will face second-sseeded Louisville in a semifinal Nov. 7.

Sixth-seeded Jerome finished 6-5.

Logan took the lead for good midway through the first quarter on Clay Morgan's 2-yard touchdown run. The Chieftains increased their lead to 13-0 with 1:51 left in the quarter on Patrick Angle's 6-yard touchdown pass to Jaush Huntsberger. The extra-point attempt was blocked.

Jerome closed to within 13-7 early in the second quarter on Connor Rosenbaum's 7-yard touchdown run, but that was all the Celtics managed.

Ronnie Burcham kicked a 31-yard field goal late in the first half for a 16-7 lead, then Logan closed the scoring on Angle's 22-yard touchdown pass to Mason Mays with 10:47 remaining.

"You have to have players out there who are going to fight for all 48 minutes, otherwise you don't ever have a chance," Jerome coach Mark Hundley said. "We start preaching that from day one. That's not a surprise to me, that's something that we expect and obviously it's something that happened here tonight. We're pretty pleased that the kids stepped up and showed that they're taking the coaching that we give them."
