After Grove City opened 0-3, the defense keyed a run in which it eventually qualified to the Division I playoffs for the first time since 2005. Leading the way was the 6-2, 192-pound Moore, who had eight interceptions.
"He meant more than the eight picks," said coach Matt Jordan, whose team gave up an average of 16.3 points in the regular season and finished 6-5 overall. "It was his leadership as a young man. He had an ability to stay positive in the face of adversity and rally his teammates. When we started 0-3, we were looking for an identity and Moore led by example and was a great inspiration to the team."
Moore, who was first-team all-OCC-Ohio and first-team all-district, met with Jordan three times a week for lunch to study and discuss game plans.
