Columbus' official centerpiece New Year's Eve event continues to be First Night Columbus.


The family-oriented, alcohol-free celebration features live entertainment at more than 15 locations around downtown Columbus, hands-on activities and interactive games, plus the annual People's Procession led by Mayor Michael Coleman and Franklin County Commissioner Paula Brooks and wrapping up with fireworks at midnight.


In addition, the annual Teen Dance will feature some of the area's top teen talent in the Teen Idol Contest. The event begins at 8 p.m. at Veterans Memorial.


And of course, there's the Bob Evans Pancake Party at the Rhodes Tower starting at 6 p.m. Did we mention the pancakes?

Lifestyle Communities Pavilion welcomes New York City-based jig-punk Irish rockers The Prodigals for a New Year's Eve show. These veterans of local stages, including the Dublin Irish festival, never disappoint. Tickets are $5. Call (614) 431-3600.


Ekoostik Hookah's annual Hookah-fied New Year's Eve show takes its traditional place on the Newport Music Hall stage. The local rockers know how to jam in the new year for sure. Tickets are $40. Call (614) 431-3600.


Shadowbox Cabaret's house band BillWho? takes center stage for the company's annual Shindig, a New Year's Eve party done Shadowbox style. Food, dancing and, of course, live music get started at 9 p.m. at Shadowbox's Easton Town Center location. Tickets are $60.
