More than one-quarter of the survey respondents reported eating out on Valentine's Day. Only birthdays and Mother's Day were cited by a larger proportion.

Respondents living in higher-income households were more likely than average to dine out on Valentine's Day. Respondents between the ages of 25 and 34 were most likely to report eating at a restaurant on Valentine's Day. Respondents living in households with three or more members were more likely than those living alone or in two-person households to eat out on Valentine's Day. Individuals with a college education were more likely than average to dine at a restaurant on Valentine's Day. Respondents living in the North Central region, or the Midwest, were most likely to report eating out on Valentine's Day.
