The Delaware Hayes High School boys and girls bowling teams failed to advance to the state tournament.

Both teams competed Saturday in the district at HP Lanes.

The boys finished 16th of 22 teams with a total of 3,846 pins. The top three teams and individuals not on a qualifying team advanced.

Qualifying to state, which is Friday and Saturday at Tiki Lanes in Lancaster, were champion Maysville (4,324), Westerville South (4,226) and Westerville North (4,195). Individual qualifiers were Dallas Johnson of Chillicothe Unioto (734), Bret Peck of Newark (728) and Timothy Eichhorn of Hartley (715).

The girls were 10th of 16 teams with a 3,151. Advancing were champion Westerville Central (3,758) and Westerville South (3,666). Individuals were Whitehall's Jesse Ballard (616) and Walnut Ridge's Holly Tilley (580).
