The Delaware Hayes High School wrestling team had five athletes competing in the Division I district meet Friday and Saturday at Hilliard Darby.

None of the Pacers finished in the top four in their weight class to advance to the state meet, which begins Thursday at Ohio State.

Competing were freshman Seth McCurdy (103 pounds) and seniors Greg Flaglor (119), Michael Austin (125), Mark Rieman (140) and Christion Brooks (189).

It was a rough start, as Austin was the only one of the five to win his first-round match Friday. Although the other four bounced back to win in first consolations, all then lost in the second consolations.

Austin, who lost his quarterfinal then won in the second consolation, lost in the third consolation. After going 2-2, he finished 28-16.

McCurdy finished 25-22, Flaglor was 33-8, Rieman went 42-9 and Brooks finished 33-15.
