Gus Bailey, the first state qualifier in swimming in Grove City High School history, reached the consolation final in the 50-yard freestyle at the Division I state meet, which ended Saturday.

Gus Bailey, the first state qualifier in swimming in Grove City High School history, reached the consolation final in the 50-yard freestyle at the Division I state meet, which ended Saturday.

Bailey finished 16th in the 50 free with a time of 22.06. He also competed in the 100 backstroke, but just missed the consolation final, finishing 17th in preliminaries (54.31).

Grove City finished in a five-way tie for 47th with one point as Cincinnati St. Xavier won the title with 320.
