The New Albany High School wrestling team advanced a wrestler to the state tournament for the ninth consecutive year.

Frankie Odierno finished fourth at 135 pounds, going 3-2 overall to earn his first trip to state. Odierno lost to Joseph Seldenright of New Philadephia by pin in the third-place match at the Division II district meet last Saturday at Heath.

New Albany tied Buckeye Valley for 18th with 36 points as Claymont (157.5) won the title.

The state tournament will be held Thursday-Saturday at Ohio State

The Eagles had two other wrestlers place as John Korth finished fifth at 215 and Mike Kaufman finished sixth at 130. Also competing for the Eagles were Nate Peck (112, 0-2), Drew Auld (125, 0-2), Josh Park (140, 0-2), Cody Kehres (171, 1-2) and Alex Vichinsky (189, 1-2).
