Two members of the St. Charles Preparatory School wrestling team advanced out of the Division I district tournament held last Friday and Saturday at Hilliard Darby.

Two members of the St. Charles Preparatory School wrestling team advanced out of the Division I district tournament held last Friday and Saturday at Hilliard Darby.

Kyle Sanders (189 pounds) and Patrick Rigsby (171) qualified for the state tournament, which runs Thursday through Saturday at Ohio State's Schottenstein Center. Sanders will be making his second state appearance and Rigsby will be making his first.

Sanders, who placed eighth at state last season, won the district title, going 4-0 and pinning Pickerington Central Wuan Tatum in 4 minutes, 28 seconds in the championship match to improve to 44-1.

Rigsby went 4-2 at district and placed fourth, losing to Hilliard Davidson's Spencer Delande 9-5 in the third-place match to drop to 39-10.

The top four finishers in each weight class qualified for state.

Also competing at district for the Cardinals were Bear Rigsby (215, 2-2), Robert DeJaco (145, 1-2) and Dan Latz (125, 0-2).

St. Charles scored 52 points at district to finish 13th behind champion Hilliard Davidson (119.5).
