The Upper Arlington High School girls swimming and diving team clinched its fifth consecutive state title Saturday at C.T. Branin Natatorium in Canton.

The Upper Arlington High School girls swimming and diving team clinched its fifth consecutive state title Saturday at C.T. Branin Natatorium in Canton.

The Bears scored 349 points to finish well ahead of runner-up Watterson (176).

"There was no nervousness from a team standpoint," coach Dan Peterkoski said. "I wanted to see them go out there and achieve what they worked so hard for."

Darcy Fishback won her fourth state title in the 100-yard butterfly (53.83 seconds) and all three relay teams also won. The 200 medley relay of Maddie Armitage, Nicole Wagner, Fishback and Kayla Hammerberg won in 1:44.03 seconds. The 200 freestyle relay of Hammerberg, Kristyn Fulcher, Armitage and Fishback won in a state-record 1:34.24 and the 400 free relay team of Fulcher, Jenny Warmolts, Kerry Sullivan and Abby Chin won in 3:25.85.

On Thursday, Taylor Anderson was second in diving (399.75).

The Bears placed at least seventh in 14 events.

The boys team was fourth at the state meet behind Cincinnati St. Xavier (322), St. Charles (265) and Cincinnati Moeller (202).

Eric Huffman won both the 50 free (20.41) and the 100 free (44.35) to pace a team that placed at least fifth in five events.

"You just saw one of the greatest swimmers in Ohio history," coach Jeff Stewart said of Huffman.

On Thursday, Christian Holstein won diving (484.45).

The 400 free relay of Huffman, J.J. Spangler, Tommy Dickhaut and Zach Kelch was a state runner up, finishing in a school-record 3:05.04 to St. Xavier (3:05.04). Kelch was also fifth in the 500 free (4:36.66) and the 200 medley relay of Kelch, Adam Rabe, John Lowrey and Huffman was fifth (1:36.62) behind champion St. Charles (1:33.21).
