The Thomas Worthington High School girls swimming team placed 36th in the Division I state meet, which concluded Saturday at Canton's C.T. Branin Natatorium.

The Thomas Worthington High School girls swimming team placed 36th in the Division I state meet, which concluded Saturday at Canton's C.T. Branin Natatorium.

The top finisher for the girls team was sophomore Claudia Doyle, who placed seventh in the 100-yard backstroke in 57.38 seconds. Doyle was also 19th (53.77) in the 100 free. Lauren Porteus, Margaret Rechel, Doyle and Carly Davis placed 20th (1:40.95) in the 200 free relay.

Upper Arlington was first in the Division I girls meet with 349 points, finishing ahead of Watterson (176).

The boys team didn't score in the Division I meet. Sam Reeder was 24th (48.88) in the 100 free and Ford Hannum, Tyler Johnson, Philip Mueller and Reeder were 20th (1:30.06) in the 200 free relay. Cincinnati St. Xavier won the boys championship with 322 points, finishing ahead of St. Charles (265).
