Listing the 6-6 Weatherspoon as one of the most athletic juniors in the nation would not be an overstatement.

Weatherspoon, a Xavier recruit, has been a key player since his freshman season and along with teammate and Super 12 captain Jared Sullinger has led the Vikings to a 70-3 mark, including 25-1 this season, heading into a state semifinal Friday against Warren Harding.

Weatherspoon averages 14.7 points and 8.0 rebounds and shoots nearly 70 percent from the floor. A first-team all-City and third-team all-district player, he also broke Jeff Cumberland's mark for dunks by a City League player with more than 60.

"The sky's the limit for that young man," coach Satch Sullinger said. "He's athletic and he's grounded in the fundamentals. Usually you find one or the other."
