MASON -- The Bexley High School girls lacrosse club team advanced to the Division III state final with a 13-9 victory over Toledo Ottawa Hills on Friday at Cincinnati Indian Hill.

The Lions, who improved to 7-6, will play Cincinnati Anderson at 11 a.m. at Mason for the state title. Anderson defeated Milford 17-9 in the other semifinal.

"It's been an unbelievable senior year," said Bexley goalie Jen Davis, who had16 saves. "We've worked so hard, and we deserve this. We were leading 5-2 at half, and we kept thinking, 'We need more goals.' We really stepped it up in the second half."

"Jen is so solid and consistent all year, and she was that way again today," coach Gillian Thomson said. "What I love about her is not only is she great at making saves but she'll tear up field and start our attack. She's truly the anchor of our team, and we wouldn't be here without her."

The Lions were led offensively by Torrey Williams, Devin Beaumier and Elise Masse, who all had three goals. Gina Vottero scored twice, and Colleen Bond and Grace Curran each scored once.

"I'm extremely proud of these girls," Thomson said. "We're such a tightly-knit team and we're just thrilled to be in the finals."
