Keeping in line with his empire of casual restaurants, Jimmy Velio is about to unveil yet another laidback locale.

Hellas Grill Express will open soon in the former Cowtown Pizza storefront, 1335 Northwest Blvd. at the corner of West Third Avenue.

Pizzas and gyros are the cornerstone of the mostly carryout Hellas, which is not associated with the Hellas in Shawnee Hills. There will be seating for roughly 15 in the 1,100-square-foot restaurant, to be run by Velio's brother Moses.

The menu is budget priced, with no gyro topping the $5 mark. Pizzas come in 10 and 14 inches, the most expensive ringing in at $14. Customers also can find salads and chicken wings at the restaurant.
A variety of Greek appetizers dolmathes, spanakopita and tiropita will be served, as will more traditional starters, such as fries, onion rings and chicken tenders.

"The quality of our food is going to be very good," said Velio, the owner of four Jimmy V's and the Red Door Tavern, and a partner in several other central Ohio restaurants. "Being able to give our customers good food at a reasonable price, I think is going to win the favor of the people in Grandview Heights."

A recent remodeling effort at Cafe China in Dublin has included the addition of a sushi bar. The 12-year-old restaurant is located at 6796 Perimeter Loop Center Road in the Giant Eagle center. Owner Michael Chen also is the founder of Tokyo Sushi, which recently opened in Powell.
