A series of unfortunate events has postponed the gallant return of Nancy's Home Cooking in Clintonville.
A series of unfortunate events has postponed the return of Nancy's Home Cooking in Clintonville.
Owner Sheila Davis Hahn said exhaust fans had to be redesigned, a family emergency took a contractor out of town for an extended period of time and several workers recently caught the flu.
The comfort-food restaurant, which closed June 1 when longtime owner Cindy King announced her retirement, was slated to reopen Sunday, Nov. 1.
"We're going to see what we can get done by Thanksgiving," said Hahn, one of several family members who inherited the restaurant.
She remains optimistic about the future of Nancy's, 3133 N. High St.
"I'm very pleased with the progress we've made," she said.
In any event, popular cook Ed King will not return. The Lancaster resident, who's suffered for years from complications of diabetes and other health concerns, is hanging up his ladle.
"I think he has real mixed feelings about it," said his daughter, Tracy King-McCurry. "His customers were part of his family, but physically he's ready to retire."
