The Brookhaven High School football team hopes for its 24th consecutive City League-North Division victory when it travels Friday to Linden-McKinley.

The Bearcats got untracked offensively last Friday after scoring just 22 points over the first four weeks of the season as they edged Whetstone 37-32 as Donivan Lipsey rushed for 273 yards and two touchdowns. Quarterback Tajuan Green added 103 yards passing and 92 yards rushing for the Bearcats, who also got a 15-yard interception return for a touchdown by Randall Clarkson in the fourth quarter.

Linden, which lost to the Bearcats 35-6 last season, is coming off a 63-0 loss to Beechcroft last Friday.

The Panthers' only victory this season came over Westland (20-16 on Sept. 3). They've been shut out twice and average 8.8 points while giving up 44.2 per game.

In a 34-18 loss to Centennial on Sept. 17, quarterback Chajaz Davis ran for a 1-yard touchdown and threw touchdown passes of 37 yards to Kevin Satterfield and 4 yards to Tremayne Tittle.
