After erasing a 31-12 halftime deficit last Friday, the Grove City High School football team rallied to beat previously undefeated Groveport 40-34.

The Dawgs enter Friday's OCC-Ohio Division game at Lancaster with two consecutive wins thanks to an aerial assault on offense.

Grove City senior quarterback Luke Smurthwaite threw for 349 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for four touchdowns in the comeback win. The Dawgs have scored 79 points the last two weeks.

Lancaster's defense struggled to defend the pass last Friday in a 30-28 win over Gahanna as Lions quarterback Tanner Zwelling threw for 192 yards and two touchdowns.

Meanwhile, Lancaster's offense rebounded from a 26-0 loss to Pickerington Central on Sept. 17 against Gahanna. The Golden Gales produced 350 of their 424 total yards on the ground. Connor Smith rushed for 103 yards and Xavier Smith had 102 yards.

Lancaster and Grove City last met in 2008 with the Dawgs winning 7-0. Since 2003, the Golden Gales have won four of six meetings.
