Kathleen Murchison has created a casual eatery on the Northwest Side.
Kathleen Murchison knew she could please palates when she was an English major at The Ohio State University.
With no money, she had to make something out of nothing "because we were so poor," she said.
That love of cooking and the use of fresh ingredients led her to open Kathleen's Cafe, a small, informal eatery at 1093 Bethel Road.
Her pursuit form the beginning was to have a from-scratch kitchen.
"It's healthy and it's better," said Murchison, now a Food & Wine contributor.
She's big on soups, and makes her own stocks. Cupcakes are popular with customers, especially the chocolate option that has chocolate ganache inside and is crowned with butter cream icing.
