The Carfagna family is moving its production facility from downtown Columbus to the Northeast Side.

Casa di Carfagna, which makes the full line of specialty food products, will nearly double in size when it moves to a 15,000-square-foot space at 3518 Johnny Appleseed Court, off Westerville Road. It is expected to be up and running by the end of May.

Sam Carfagna, who owns the business with his brother, Dino, said demand is driving the move.

"We don't sit on our hands," he said. "We continue to innovate new ways to sell exciting food and to create a new way to reach the public with our products."

Pasta sauce, soups, sausage, meatballs and other homemade foods - sold to restaurants and grocery stores locally and out of state - are prepared at the facility, which opened 17 years ago at 408 N. Sixth St.

In addition, the company's catering services, currently at the Carfagna's grocery store, 1405 E. Dublin-Granville Road, will move to the new building.

It's been 75 years since the founding of Carfagna's, which is known for its hand-cut meats, fresh produce and imported foods, beer, cheese and wine selections.
In 2007, the family opened Carfagna's Kitchen at 2025 Polaris Parkway.
