Annual Irish dance event set for Feb. 25
The Irish Dance Association of Columbus will sponsor the Legacy Ceili from 6 to 11 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, at the Grand Valley Dale Ballroom, 1590 Sunbury Road.
The event includes a dinner buffet and cash bar, ceili dancing, youth activities and a silent auction.
A ceili is a traditional Irish dance party. Ceili dancing is similar to American square dancing in that there is a “caller” who provides instruction and calls the movements of each dance. No previous Irish dance experience is necessary to participate in the dancing.
Pre-sale tickets are $35 for adults and youth, $20 for children ages 6-11 and free for age 5 and under. Tickets will be available at the door for an additional $5 each.
Ticket information is available at www.richenstimm.com.
This annual event is a fundraiser benefiting dancers of the Richens/Timm Academy of Irish Dance. This year’s ceili honors the legacy of the academy’s founder, Ann Farrell Richens, who died in 2011.
