Don’t skip Cirque’s six-night run at Nationwide Arena
Sometimes technical difficulties prove too much to overcome – and so the world may never see video footage of The Beat skipping rope with Cirque du Soleil skipper Adrienn Banhegyi. Trust us. It happened.
Cirque du Soleil’s Quidam opens tonight, Dec. 6, at Nationwide Arena for six shows through Sunday.
Look for Adrienn. And imagine what it would be like if The Beat were there also. Or on second thought, maybe not.

You might recall reading this past August about Groove U, a new, two-year university-style program that opened earlier this year in the Short North.
Dwight Heckelman runs the show there, providing training aimed specifically at folks interested in working in the music industry.
Groove U is sponsoring Instaband, a “battle of the bands” for central Ohio high school music performers.
The contest is open to all central Ohio high school bands, duos and solo artists in genres including: pop, rock ‘n’ roll, metal, rap, hip-hop, singer/songwriter, country, trance/electronic, Christian/gospel and more.
First prize is, of course, bragging rights, plus a contract with a host of support to help get an act “to the next level.”
Details are available at instaband.org.
In a somewhat similar vein, the Lincoln Theatre has added additional Artist Production Development Clinic dates, following the success of those held in October.
Local artists and arts organizations can participate in the free, one-day clinics, which cover topics including production planning and staging, marketing and advertising, and legal issues.
Dates are Dec. 15, March 30 and June 15. Space is limited. Email Suzan Bradford at firstname.lastname@example.org.
