Hindsight deftly balances Old World and new
The 2010 Hindsight Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is a classy cabernet that was aged a year in year-old French oak.
This wine is made by Robert Hunter, formerly of Groth, Bennet Lane and The Terraces. He has an amazing track-record as a contract winemaker, traveling hither and yon to make wines for a number of clients, which keeps the cost down.
What he has done with Hindsight is quite impressive, with the nose showing cinnamon, sandalwood and raspberry. The mouth, meanwhile, flaunts flavors of cedar, blackberries and black cherries, with a fruity and balanced aftertaste. This wine strikes me as a style of part Old World, and part new. It has depth, fruit and rounded tannins, and is simply delicious. For $25 a bottle, it is an impressive wine for the flavor and value associated.
