Two Caterers has begun construction on the former Hoster Brewing Co. building with the hopes of opening in mid-August.
A long-established catering business is taking over the former Hoster Brewing Co. space at 550 S. High St.
Angela Petro, owner of Two Caterers, has begun construction on the 12,327-square-foot building with the hopes of opening in mid-August.
"I think we're going to enhance the neighborhood and really give this building a chance," Petro said.
She said Two Caterers and a related enterprise, Sweet Carrot, will take over the Brewery District space, which will become a banquet hall.
It will be renamed High Line Car House, a nod to the building's previous use. Built in 1873, it was used to service the High Street trolley line.
Then known as the South High Car House, the facility was used to house horses and trolley cars. The space has been vacant for a number of years.
Two Caterers got its start 16 years in the former Tommy Keegan's storefront in the Brewery District, Petro said.
It has been located at 6800 Schrock Hill Court on the North Side for more than five years. Petro said the new space provides a centralized hub for the business.
"We can now be anywhere in 20 minutes," she said. "So much of our business is downtown."
