Home Instead Senior Care is teaming up with nonprofit agencies and area retailers to sponsor Be a Santa to a Senior, a program that collects, wraps and delivers gifts to lonely and needy seniors in Franklin and Delaware counties.

The program runs from Nov. 4 to Dec. 11.

Trees at area locations Nov. 4 will feature ornaments with the first names of seniors and their gift requests. Shoppers can select an ornament, buy the items listed and return them unwrapped to the store, with the ornament attached.

Participating sites include:

Walgreens Co., 6805 Peri-meter Loop Drive, 1040 Polaris Parkway, 9110 Dublin Road, 3141 Tremont Road, 748 N. State St.; CVS, 900 Hamilton Road, 3282 Tremont Road, 1495 Fifth Ave.; Powell United Methodist Church, 825 E. Olentangy St.; Clintonville Academy, 3916 Indianola Ave.; and Ohio State University Wexner Center, 9 E. Rhodes Hall.

The local Home Instead Senior Care office will enlist volunteers from its staff, senior-care business associates, nonprofit workers and others to wrap the gifts Dec. 12 and 13, with distribution set for Dec. 16 and 17.
