Pataskala voters chose a new mayor Nov. 5, according to unofficial results from the Licking County Board of Elections.
Mike Compton, who was serving his first term on Pataskala City Council, defeated Steve Butcher, who is finishing his second term as mayor.
Compton received 1,465 votes, 52.75 percent of the votes cast.
Butcher received 1,219 votes, 43.9 percent of the votes cast.
Terry Beekman, the third candidate in the race, received 93 votes, a little more than 3 percent of the votes cast.
The results, which included absentee ballots, were calculated with all precincts reporting.
ThisWeek could not reach Compton for comment Nov. 5.
Butcher said he was trying to call and personally congratulate Compton after the results were posted.
“I’m thrilled with what we’ve accomplished in the last eight years and I’m leaving the city in better shape than it was when I came in,” Butcher said.
